Flags at the Cemetery | Cash Bonanza tickets due | Cookout and Rubber Ducks game
Grand Knight’s Message
He is RISEN! Happy Easter everyone. Even though it’s been three weeks since Easter Sunday, as Catholics, we celebrate the Easter season for 50 days ending on Pentecost Sunday, June 8. Happy Easter!
Please keep our cardinals in Rome in your prayers as they begin the Conclave to elect our new Pope this week. Once a new Pope is announced, we will share the news via email and post an update on our Facebook page.
We had another great lenten fish fry season. Thanks to all who volunteered their time to help out. It would not have been as successful without everyone’s strong work. Great job by everyone! We ended on Good Friday with our largest amount of dinners served.
Last weekend we had a mass at St. Paul’s Parish for our council and had 21 Brothers present. It was pretty cool to process in together at the beginning of mass and have some of our members actively participate in the mass.
Also, last weekend was the craft fair at the hall. Thanks to Missy for taking on this project and thanks to all the volunteers helping in the kitchen. After the 50/50 raffle and profit from the food sales, the craft fair made $217 dollars for council #3410 charity fund.
Looking ahead, May 6 is our monthly meeting. If you would like to take a more significant role in our council, we are accepting names for next year’s officers. If you would like to take on a position let me know at the meeting or by phone. At June’s meeting we will have the election.
As the Knights of Columbus calendar year comes to a close, I believe we have completed all activities for Star Council again this year!
Keep selling and turning in the Cash Bonanza tickets. The last day to turn in tickets is May 8 to Brother Don White. Watch your email for council updates on our turn-in numbers. The drawing takes place Saturday, May 17.
One of my favorite activities of the year is placing flags for our veterans at the cemetery for Memorial Day. See the description below for more information.
Keep reading the newsletter for future activities. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me.
Be Good Everyone.
Steve Dort,
Grand Knight
Flags for Veterans
Join us Saturday, May 24 at Holy Cross Cemetery to place flags at the graves of Veterans. Meet at 8 a.m. at the cemetery’s main office. It does help if you can bring a tool, like a long screw driver, to make a small hole to place the flag in. If you have any questions, please reach out to Brother Bill Canan. Family and friends are welcome to join.
Cookout and Rubber Ducks Game – July 12
Brother Knight Daniel O’Donnell has offered to grill/cook for us at the hall before the Rubber Ducks Game on Saturday, July 12. Cost for both the cookout and a game ticket is $15 per person. After we eat, we can head downtown to the Rubber Ducks game. For those that have come to the game with us in the past, we will try to beat the heat this year with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch game as well as purchasing tickets without the direct late day sun. Sign ups for both the cookout and the game will start in May at the hall.
