Grand Knight’s Message

As you all probably know, Pope Francis is in the hospital and is in critical condition. I encourage you to keep Pope Francis in your prayers. There’s a prayer at the end of the newsletter that has been shared with us that you can refer to.

If you haven’t heard, I’m happy to announce we have a new chaplain. On February 15, Bishop Malesic officially assigned Father Pfeiffer from St. Paul Parish as the Chaplain to council #3410. Welcome Father Pfeiffer!

Thanks to all who bought and sold Football Crazr tickets in the fall. Two tickets were given to or mailed out to every brother of our council. There were 5 winners that were associated with our council. Because of the large number of tickets sold we received $2,507.50 from the state that will be put into our charity fund. Nice job everyone!

Here is a recap of a few things that happened during the month of February.

On February 9, the hall was open for the Super Bowl. Thank you to everyone who worked to make it a success. Will we ever see the Browns in the Super Bowl?

On February 15, we welcomed representatives from the State Knights of Columbus & hosted 17 other Knights of Columbus councils to our hall for a live Cash Bonanza Kickoff. Thank you to Brother Paul Dort, Brother Don White, and Brother/District Deputy Tom Goodhart for representing our council at the kickoff. Brother Don White is taking the lead on this fundraiser for us again this year. Last year Don led our council to be 7th in the state for Cash Bonanza ticket sales. That’s 7th out of over 350 councils in the state.

On February 21, we had a group dinner at the Polish American Club. To be honest, when we first discussed the idea, I thought if 10-15 people came that would be great. You all blew that number out of the water. We had 40 people attend dinner, and everyone agreed the food was delicious.

The weather was cold in February and we have had some smaller crowds on Wednesday evenings, but hopefully with the time change this month and weather improving, we will see many of you who we have not seen in awhile. This Wednesday we will be having Cheese Pizza for Ash Wednesday.

In lieu of the Rosary, we will be holding an Exemplification Ceremony on Tuesday, March 4 at 7 p.m., before our regular council meeting. Brothers, this would be a great evening to attend and welcome those who will be joining Council 3410. If you know of a catholic man that would like to join a great council, it’s not too late! Please have them contact Pat Deshane or myself.

During our March 4 council meeting, we will have a ballot containing the names of all the people who have been nominated for an “… of the year” recognition. All Brothers in attendance will be able to vote. Stay after the meeting to meet our new members and enjoy some pizza.

As Holy Week information from our parishes is posted, I will be sure to share the dates and times with everyone. I encourage our members to participate in Holy Week at your parish or another parish if you’re not in town.

In January we shared information about this year being a Jubilee year. Mark your calendar for Monday, April 28, as Father Damien Ference will be at Queen of Heaven Church talking about Bishop Malesic’s pastoral letter and how it connects to the Jubilee Year of Hope from 7 to 9 p.m.

If you have not been around for a while, stop by the hall on any Wednesday evening. Brothers, come to our council meeting on Tuesday, March 4 and let us know any ideas that you may like to lead for our council.

Keep reading the newsletter for future activities. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me.

Be Good Everyone.
Steve Dort, Grand Knight

Mass for Council #3410

On Sunday, April 27 at the 8 a.m. mass, at St. Paul Parish, the intention will be for all Brothers of council 3410. If you can, please attend the mass. When it is time to take up the gifts, council brothers can meet in the back of the center aisle and walk the gifts to the altar as a group. We had many people respond positively to us doing this last year.

A Jubilee Revival for a Flourishing Church

Join Fr. Damian Ference, vicar for evangelization for the Diocese of Cleveland, at the Summit County Jubilee sacred site, Queen Of Heaven, for a reflection on Bishop Malesic’s pastoral letter, A Flourishing Apostolic Church, and how it connects to the Jubilee Year of Hope and the Eucharistic Revival. This will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on April 28. You can obtain a plenary indulgence by making a pilgrimage to one of the Sacred Jubilee Sites and fulfilling the other typical conditions.
