Council 3410

Super Bowl Party | 2026 Lenten Fish Fry | Mass for Council #3410

Grand Knight’s Message

Brrrrrrrr!!! Spring is right around the corner.

At our December monthly council meeting, we had an exemplification ceremony for new members. I’d like to welcome three new members and their families to the South Akron Knights of Columbus: Dan Bradshaw, Thomas Gruic, and Tim Harvey. I’d like to invite these new guys and everyone else in our council to attend our meetings and get involved in our activities. Everybody has something that they can bring to enhance our council.

Thanks to everyone that came out to our annual Euchre Tournament & Chili Cookoff. Thank you to those that took the time to make chili: Larry Whalen, Greg Stoerkel, Cherie Sedlock, Jerry Parridon, Shannon Hull, Carl Hopper, Ross Holden, Dave DeShane, Patty Dort, and Chris Dort. Once again Jerry did a great job running the euchre tournament and Missy with the chili cookoff. We raised enough money to purchase four wheelchairs through the Knights of Columbus Wheelchair Mission Project. Way to go Council 3410!

Unfortunately the Free Throw Championship had to be cancelled due to the snow storm. Vince Gross did a great job getting the word out about the event. If the weather had cooperated, I know it would have been a great time.

Football Crazr is officially over for the year. Council #3410 had four winners over the 10 weeks. It was the most tickets we have ever sold. When we find out the amount of funds we raised for our charity accounts it will be revealed in a future newsletter.

It is almost Lenten Fish Fry time. A great way for members and their families to get involved with our council. A meeting for all fish fry volunteers will be held at the hall on Friday, February 13 at 6 p.m.

It is time to pay your dues! Brother knights, wives, and social dues are all now due. Please make an effort to pay them ASAP.

Our monthly meeting is Tuesday, February 2. The rosary starts at 7p.m. and the meeting is immediately afterward.

Be good everyone.
Steve Dort,
Grand Knight

Acme Cash Back Receipts

We are down to the last few weeks! Acme receipts through February 15 are part of the Acme Cash Back Program. We will be collecting these receipts for St. Francis De Sales School. Receipts should have the amount listed on the bottom of your receipt. We only need that small part, not the whole receipt. There is a collection envelope in the lounge. Drop them off any time the lounge is open.

Super Bowl Party

Sunday, February 8 – the lounge will be open for a Super Bowl Party. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. A $10 donation per person will be collected at the door. There will be pizza, wings, italian sandwiches, jo-jos and snacks. Covered dishes and desserts are welcome. Cash Bar. There are square boards and quarter envelopes available. Come enjoy a good time with fellow members and friends!

2026 Lenten Fish Fry

Volunteer sign-ups for our Fish Fry Fridays are available in the lounge. Please sign up for the area where you would like to help. Join us in the hall on February 13 at 6 p.m. for a volunteer meeting to learn more about this year’s event. Our first fish fry will be held on Friday, February 20.

Mass for Council #3410

On April 26, at the 8 a.m. mass at St. Paul Church, there will be a mass said for the intention of the Brother Knights of Council #3410. This was received positively last year, especially as we all entered the church together at the start of mass. I hope all Brother Knights of our council are able to join us.

Nominations

It is that time of year that we will be accepting nominations for the following: Knight of the Year, Family of the Year, Youth of the Year, Lady of the Year, and Chaplain or spiritual advisor. Please have all nominations turned in by March 1. Please email Steve Dort your nominee, category and reasons why you are nominating them. Our council nominees from each category will be turned into the state as part of the star council requirements.
