South Akron Knights of Columbus

Council 3410

Grand Knight’s Message

Hello everyone,

We are officially in the Advent season, and Christmas is just around the corner. Knights of Columbus councils across the state and country offer multiple activities that promote Christmas and the season of Advent. The Keep Christ In Christmas (KCIC) campaign brings all these activities under one umbrella. Activities include whatever efforts are best for the community you are in. I am pleased that we had 3 service projects going on in our council and all have been successful. The amount of donations to the free clothing store at Immaculate Conception was great. The council delivered items twice and both times the vehicle was full. We also successfully donated 5 boxes of nonperishable food to the St. Vincent De Paul food bank. Thank you to everyone who donated. Our last drive is for Coats for Kids. You still have time to drop off a coat in the box. The final day for that collection is Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Last month I introduced in the newsletter our new 3rd Degree members. This month I would like to announce our new members to council #3410 who have transferred from another council. Please introduce yourselves to our new members when you see them:

Westley Chrapko
Paul Dort
Christian Kelley

Charles Klein
Owen Shaffer
Lawrence Whalen

I heard the reverse raffle was a great night last month. I am sorry we missed it. Thank you to Shawn Needham and his team for all their work putting on the event. Congratulations to Joe Falkenstein for being the big winner at the end of the night.

Hopefully everyone is reading this newsletter before December 11, because that is our council’s memorial mass at Immaculate Conception in Kenmore at 11 a.m. At mass we honor members who have passed away in the last year. There will be donuts after the mass.

On Wednesday, Dec. 21, we will have our weekly drawing and potluck in the hall for our Christmas Celebration. Let’s make some delicious items to share with everyone. Feel free to try out that new recipe before you make it for your family.

Keep reading below to learn about upcoming meetings, masses and events. The next time you’re at the hall check out the TV in the back corner. We have a running list of dates and events on the screen to remind everyone of what is going on.

Missy and I want to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas. We hope you all enjoy your holiday festivities with family and friends. Create new memories, pass on family traditions, or start some new ones with those that are special to you.

Be good everybody,
Steve Dort, Grand Knight

2023 Membership Dues

It is time to start paying dues for the 2023 calendar year. This includes dues for Brother Knights, spouses, and social dues. If you can pay them at the hall before the years end, it will save money from mailing out cards and reminders. Reminder you must have your dues paid to be entered into the weekly/monthly drawings at the hall.

Sick or distressed list

Please call the council and let us know of any members that are sick. We will read the list at the next meeting and keep them in our prayers.

Council 3410 members

Council 3410 has 321 members. We would like to ensure our records are correct. Starting in 2023 we will be verifying members phone numbers and email addresses. If you would like to volunteer to help with this, please let us know.
