Grand Knight’s Message
Hello members of K of C 3410,
Fall has crept in rather quickly, with cool days and cooler evenings upon us. Before you know it, the leaves will be changing and cravings of hot soup and warm blankets will be more common. While we still have clear skies and bright sun, let’s soak in that Vitamin D.
I want to thank those that donated canned goods and nonperishables for the September charity drive. St. Vincent dePaul representatives came during our Oktoberfest party to pick up our collection. They were very excited to see the abundance that we had gathered for them. They hope to continue our partnership, as we both strive to help our community. Thanks to George Hodnichek for being our Community Director. As we enter another month, we will discuss with George what he’s got in mind for our next “drive” and share that with you. Keep an eye out for our emails, as they will have updates and reminders for you. Thank you, Nathan Dort, for handling those communications.
On September 30, we held our annual Oktoberfest. We had 120 patrons listen to the fine musicians and singing of the Culkar-Golob Band and enjoy a great German themed dinner with family and friends. I want to extend a big thank you to Steve and Missy Dort, and their helpers, for putting on such a great evening. It’s always a fan favorite!
September’s Knight of the Month has been selected but won’t be named until Tuesday’s Exemplification. The winner is not aware that he has been chosen. I do want to let you know that the monthly award is not an individual choice. I confer with peers and those that have their collective finger on the pulse of our council’s day to day activities for suggestions and input.
Lastly, October 28 is our monthly dinner and drawing. We encourage all that want to participate, to wear a costume, in the spirit of Halloween!
Please read on for upcoming events, news and more.
Be Good Everyone.
Steve Dort, Grand Knight
Exemplification Oct. 6
On Tuesday, October 6, at 7 p.m., we will have an Exemplification ceremony, welcoming four new members to Council 3410. Brothers are encouraged to attend the event and show our new brethren our support and welcome them with open arms.
2026 Football Crazr tickets- Last Call
The deadline for the final ticket turn in is Wednesday, October 14. Brother Steve (and Missy) Dort are reporting 235 tickets are sold. Our goal is to sell 400. Tickets are $20 each. Please make sure the paid stubs being returned say Council 3410 on them, so we get the appropriate credit. Ticket sales help reduce our per capita cost each year. Please turn in all sold and unsold tickets as soon as possible, to avoid a last second rush.
K of C Memorial Mass
The K of C 3410 Memorial mass will be held at St. Paul’s on Saturday, October 24 at the 4:30 p.m. mass. Please mark your calendar and we hope to see you there!
3410’s Fall Reverse Raffle- Saturday, Nov. 21
It’s time again for our Fall Reverse Raffle. Keep an eye out for fliers in the lounge and emails that will follow. Shawn Needham will be chairing the event. We will have ticket numbers 1-175 available for immediate sale. If they sell out, we will then release tickets 176-200. Tickets are $40 each. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., buffet to start at 7 p.m. and the raffle will begin at 8:15 p.m. Contact Shawn to purchase tickets for this event.
September’s Charitable Donations
In September, we made a donation to a local high school student, who is an Eagle Scout. As part of his community service, he is working on making improvements and updates to the sound system at SS. Philip and James. This young man certainly exudes the importance of faith, community and selflessness.
K of C Recruitment
Brother Frank Noffsinger was on site at a few recruitment locations last month, looking to see if we can get a few new members to join our council. Kudos go out to Frank, Larry Whalen and Mike Payne for volunteering their time and talent for these events. Recruitment is an ongoing, year round pursuit.
Acme Receipts collection
We are assisting St. Francis de Sales with collecting Acme receipts again, as part of their fundraiser. Receipt collection will be in the lounge, behind the bar. Please give your receipts to whomever is tending to put into the designated envelope. Vince Gross is chairing this program for our council.
2027 Building Fund Raffle Tickets
In the first quarter of 2027, Fred Cafarelli will chair our Building Fund raffle. As you may know, our building and property has and is undergoing many expensive repairs/updates. To help offset these tremendous expenses, we’re holding the $100 raffle ticket drawing. A limited number of tickets will be available, so don’t hesitate to help our cause! Quantity of tickets to be sold and prize monies to be determined. We’ve done this in the past and it really does help us keep our K of C in good operating condition.
New Year’s Eve Party
Thursday, December 31, there will be a NYE party in the hall. Cost is $35 per person. The theme is Mardi Gras. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and dinner and music will start at 8 p.m. Ticket sales will begin in early November. More to come!
